The Yale-NUS Visual Arts Society presents... Artober 2022 -- PRISM!
This year's rendition of Artober was months in the making. The VAS team had been liaising with numerous student organisations and stakeholders both within the NUS community and external parties to make Artober 2022 the largest one yet! With Covid-19 restrictions being lifted, we were also allowed to host larger scale events. I was given the thrilling opportunity to plan this year's Artober Kick-off Event!
KICK-OFF EVENT
Taking inspiration from Very Small Exhibition's artwork, I decided to light up Elm Residential College in different colors in line with the theme of 'Prism'. We laid out picnic mats and fairy lights with refreshments available as well. Fellow Kingfishers went up to sing as we basked in the atmosphere.
PREPARATION
Of course, preparing for this event was no easy task. Huge shoutout to my friends Magnus and Kento for helping me test the lights literally the night before the event as I scurried up and down 12 flights of stairs multiple times because the lift was broken. We cycled through so much cellophane paper and tape just hoping the covered lights would be visible from the courtyard. I think this photo aptly shows how tired we all were.
Thank you Jerricho, for accompanying me to purchase materials despite your superbly busy schedule. Jia Wen, you were the backbone of the entire program with your support over at marketing. To Gillian and Tricia, you two were my assistants on the day of the event and without your help, putting up cellophane on multiple lights for 23 floors would have been absolute hell but we finally did it!! Shoutout to Natasha as well for helping with refreshments and a huge thank you for Jiaying and Thaddeus for helping with photography during the event.
ARTOBER 2022
After so many months of weekly check-ins, coordination, emails and meetings, Artober 2022 was a resounding success with 18 events and hundreds of participants from Yale-NUS and the NUS community. Here are some more photographs of what went down during the month. Thank you everyone!!
